Latest A46/Kidnappers Road works

Kidnapper's Closure:

Works are progressing well but to facilitate the next stage, as of Wednesday 11th May, there will be no longer be access to Kidnapper's Lane from the A46 Shurdington Road.

This is partly due to drivers continuing to ignore the "No Entry" signs at the lower end of Kidnapper's and also to enable Kier contractors to commence construction work around the junction area which involves working on both sides of the road.

All residents will need to access their homes from either Church Road or Leckhampton Lane via Meadowsweet Road and down Farm Lane for the duration of these works.

The diversion route will be clearly signed to assist deliveries and service providers etc.

A46 Traffic Signals:

With regards to the signals on the Shurdington Road, that were faulty over the weekend and the timings were completely out yesterday morning. Kier came straight away and manned the stretch with stop/go boards to clear the queue. They were in contact with the signal providers and the problem should now be resolved. Duration:Many of you have enquired as to the likely duration of the works. Kier has to "block book road space" well in advance to allow all works to be completed, thus a "buffer" time is added at the outset. With a large project such as this, although detailed surveys were carried out, it is not always possible to know the true state of the ground until work starts. Potentially, the stretch of pathway along the left of the A46 heading into town will not be completed by the end of August partly due to drainage issues that have now come to light and which require additional mitigation works.
