Leckhampton Road - Road Safety Improvements 9th Oct for a week 19:00pm to 07:00am
Gloucestershire County Council, will shortly carry out highway safety improvements
at the above location. This scheme is being delivered in line with the County's Road Safety Policy to
improve the road safety.
The scheme will alter the road layout through the use of revised road markings and some minor kerb
alterations. The centre line will be removed, and we will introduce unrestricted parking bays along
the edges of the carriageway. This will give a sense that there is less road width available for
drivers and encourages them to slow down and consider where they place themselves in the
carriageway and to give appropriate space for cyclists. The parking bays will also help manage the
parking along sections of the road where currently vehicles park partly on the verge causing
damage. The parking bays will encourage drivers to use the available road space more efficiently
but should not reduce the amount of on street parking as they will be in line with the highway code
(e.g. not close to junctions or across private driveways).
To ensure the safety of our crew and residents we will need to close the road as per the plan
overleaf. The works are weather dependent but we aim to complete the work in one night during this
week so the closure will only be in place for the duration of the works. Due to the nature of the
works we ask that where possible, residents do not park on the road during the evening.

Anti Social Behaviour & Crime Public Meeting 20th September 6:30pm
Over the last few weeks, Warden Hill and its surrounding areas have seen a disturbing increase in instances of anti-social behaviour, crime and vandalism. Our residents, play areas, businesses and places of worship have been the target of repeated incident, often resulting in damage to property by both force and fire and causing alarm to those living and working in the community through threatening and intimidating behaviour.
You are invited to a public meeting hosted by the Parish Council to discuss these concerns. The meeting will be attended by Officers and PCSO's from Gloucestershire Constabulary, representatives from Cheltenham Borough Council's Neighbourhood Team, the SOLACE partnership, Borough and County Councillors, local business owners and church representatives.
The meeting will be held on: -
Date: Wednesday, 20th September 2023
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: The Church Space, Warden Hill URC, Salisbury Avenue, GL51 3BY
Please come along, listen and contribute to the discussions about these important issues to help us develop a coordinated response to tackling and reducing instances of crime, vandalism and ASB in our community.

SOR Old Bath Road
Statement of Reasons
Pedestrian Crossings x 2 – Old Bath Road, Cheltenham
Proposals
This proposal is to introduce two new zebra crossings along Old Bath Road, Cheltenham.
Reasons
The proposed scheme addresses local concerns raised in a petition to Gloucestershire County
Council (GCC) in February 2022, to provide better crossing facilities on Old Bath Road in
Cheltenham.
Old Bath Road is currently being crossed by parents and children as part of their route to and from
Leckhampton Primary School. The new Leckhampton High School on Farm Lane, which opened
in September 2022, has increased the volume of pupils crossing Old Bath Road. On Pilley Bridge,
most people cross close to the bridge so that they can see and be seen by drivers approaching
from both directions.
Currently, due to high volume of traffic during the peak hours, it is not safe for children crossing
Old Bath Road and the preferable mode of transportation is the private vehicle. The intention of
the zebra crossings is to improve the safety conditions for the pedestrians and to encourage
people to walk towards local destinations (schools).
The zebra crossings play an essential role in enabling the safe and convenient movement of
pedestrians along Old Bath Road. In the Gloucestershire Local Transport Plan 2020-2041 greater
priority is given to the movement of pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. Safer crossing
points will encourage locals to walk more.
Tactile paving will be used to assist people with visual impairments with knowing where it is safe to
wait and in which direction to cross
